The Church of Pergamum could have also been known as the compromising church. In their letter from God, He refers to Pergamum as the city where Satan has his throne. He praises them for remaining loyal to Him but has a few complaints for they tolerated 2 destructive teachings that led to compromise and sin. In Part 5 of our series Glorious, we unroll the letter to the compromising church and see what happens when we chose to compromise and lower our standards. We pray that as you listen your heart will hear the Holy Spirit calling you to humble obedience to the word of God and you will be victorious in overcoming compromise.
In Part 4 of our series Glorious, we continue to look at the Church of Laodicea, the lukewarm church. Of the 7 churches to receive letters from God, in the Book of Revelation, the Church of Laodicea was the only one not to receive one compliment. In their eyes they had everything, but He told them they were wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. Their spiritual condition was nauseating. Laodicea needed victory over their wealth; they needed the wealth only offered by God. A wealth, that offers true richness and victory. We pray that as you listen your heart will be opened to break the battle of worldly abundance and receive the only wealth that can truly satisfy.
Today we take a look at a church that completely contrasts the Church of Smyrna. The Church of Laodicea, also known as the lukewarm church, received only criticism from God. As we unroll their letter from God we learn that their spiritual condition was nauseating to God! They were rich on the outside by had nothing on the inside. They had everything they needed but were not close to the Source that would fill them inside. We pray that as you listen you will draw close to the Source and allow Him to search your soul and set your heart on fire!
In Part 2 of our series Glorious, we read the letter to the Church of Smyrna. The Church of Smyrna, also known as the suffering church, was one of the only two churches whose letter from God was one of praise. Smyrna suffered persecution, poverty and death but through it all they never lost sight of their first love. Though they suffered much and were poor on the outside, they knew they were rich on the inside and chose to live a life that brought God praise. We pray that as we unroll their message from God your ears & heart will be open to hear His words, feel His presence and know that no matter what you are going through choosing to praise Him through it will bring a sweet smelling aroma to God.
This Sunday we began our new series, Glorious! Over the next several weeks we will unroll the scrolls God gave to John for the seven churches in the Book of Revelation. In Part 1 of our series, we read the letter to the Church of Ephesus. Ephesus was where the major moves of God had begun. They were on fire; serving, sacrificing, fighting the good fight. But somewhere along the way they abandoned their first love and the flame had faded. We pray that as we unroll this message from God to His Bride it will speak to you personally and reignite your flame of your first Love.
